Configuring the PIN

The PIN is configured based on the Specify PIN By field selected in the Point-of-Care Preferences window. If the PIN is set up by practice, you need to configure it in the Change PIN window. However, if the PIN is set up by user, you must configure each PIN individually. This PIN is used with the Lock/Unlock feature and Privacy is On/Privacy is Off feature in the module.

To set up a PIN for the point-of-care module:

1. Select Utilities > Change Point-of-Care PIN. The Change PIN window is displayed.

• If the Change PIN for field in the Point-of-Care Preferences window is set for User, the user’s name is indicated in the Change PIN window; however, if it is set for Practice, the practice name is displayed in this window.

2. In the Current PIN field, type 1234.

• When setting up the module initially, the default setting for the PIN number is 1234. If you need to change the PIN in the future, you must enter your PIN in the Current PIN field and then change it to a new one.

3. In the New PIN field, type your personal PIN.

4. In the Confirm New PIN field, type your personal PIN again.

5. Click Ok.

• If you lose your PIN and it has been set by Practice, you must contact your software support provider.
