Using the Patient Chart > Using and Printing Chart Labels > Creating Custom Chart Labels
To create chart labels for roll-type label printers using Microsoft Word 2002 or Microsoft Word 2003:
Select Letters > Mail Merge Document Maintenance. The Mail Merge Document Search window is displayed.
Click New. The Mail Merge Document Wizard is displayed.
Click Next. The second window of the Mail Merge Document Wizard is displayed.
Type the file name to use.
Click Next. The third window of the Mail Merge Document Wizard is displayed.
Click Finish. Microsoft Word opens, and a new mail merge document is created.
Press Ctrl+A to select the default text, and then press Delete to delete the selected text.
Click File > Page Setup in Microsoft Word. The Page Setup window is displayed.
On the Margins tab, add the following information:
In the Top field, type .1.
In the Left field, type .17.
In the Bottom field, type .1.
In the Right field, type .1.
In the Orientation section, select Landscape.
Click the Paper tab and add the following information:
In the Paper size field, select Custom size from the drop-down list.
In the Width field, type 3.5.
In the Height field, type 1.1.
Click OK. A message window is displayed, stating that the margin settings are outside the printable area of the page. Click Ignore.
Create the first label by inserting the appropriate merge fields. Follow these steps:
Click the Insert Merge Fields button on the toolbar. The Insert Merge Field window is displayed.
Select a merge field and click Insert. Repeat for all merge fields.
Click Close.
In your label document, enter spaces between merge fields as necessary.
Insert a page break to create an additional label. Repeat for each label you want to set up.
Click Save, and close your label document.
If you would like to leave Microsoft Word running in the background, use Alt+Tab or the Windows taskbar to switch to WinOMS, or exit Microsoft Word.
Click Ok on the Mail Merge Document Options window.
