Generating and Printing Narratives

This feature creates detailed surgical and patient evaluation reports for a patient for different types of surgery, eliminating significant amounts of dictation by providing a way to enter exam findings and recommendations, and to automatically create detailed reports.

As a tool for final editing, formatting, and printing, the software uses a built-in word processor, QuickEdit.

The narrative reports consist of several components and offer several options for organizing the components to produce the final output. You can customize existing narrative reports or create new reports.

Most offices customize their narrative reports, setting them up to appear and read in a manner suitable to the practice’s needs and tastes.

While you can have several different types of narratives in your software for different types of surgery or treatment, each narrative has the same basic construction and can be broken down into three main components:

Select a patient and a narrative, and then select all the appropriate findings/prompts under each category. WinOMS merges the selected items into a document that can be edited and printed with QuickEdit.

Each narrative can have a standard opening paragraph for each patient which might include the patient’s name, the date of service, and the patient’s general condition. The closing text can also be standardized and might include general comments from the provider along with the provider’s name.

After the selected findings are merged with the opening and closing text, the end result is displayed and can be edited and printed with QuickEdit.
