To process a patient:
In the Appointment window or the Patient Search window, click Encounter. The Encounter Start window is displayed.
Some fields are populated automatically, based on patient or appointment data.
If you are entering or converting a pre-treatment estimate, select PTE Charges.
Specify a provider and ticket type, if needed.
To enter different types of data, select the appropriate category from the list on the left and then select the specific data on the right. To select procedures that have been previously entered in a pre-treatment estimate, select the Pre-Treatments category and select the appropriate procedures.
Select the Insurance Billing method from the list on the left. By choosing one of the billing order options, the posted items are billed according to the selection. If this is skipped, insurance is billed according to the default set in Practice Preferences.
Select the Additional Note category from the list on the left, if applicable. Type a note for the patient in the field provided.
After you enter all necessary data, click Finish. The Encounter Finish window is displayed.
Review the selected data and click Send to transmit it to the server. The patient is displayed automatically in the Optical Ticket Queue window on any workstation running the software.
If a prescription is entered for the patient, a message is displayed, asking if you want to immediately print the prescription from the handheld device. At the prompt, click Yes, then select and print the prescription.
In the Optical Ticket Queue window, select the patient and click Process. The same windows are displayed as when manually processing a patient, but all data is entered automatically.
If an additional note is entered for the patient, the Encounter Processing Note window is displayed. You can convert it to one of three standard note formats, or you can decide not to convert it. Click on the format you want to use, edit the details, and click Convert.
