WinOMS eServices > Using the WinOMS ePayments Service
To configure the WinOMS software:
Set up practice preferences.
Set up security.
Enable credit card processing.
The hardware, including the card swiper and modem, should already be set up and configured.
To set up practice preferences:
Select Tables > Practice > Practice Preferences. The Demographic tab of the Practice Data Entry window is displayed.
Select the Financial tab.
In the ePayments Service section, do one of the following:
Select the Use ePayments Service to post credit card transactions checkbox.
Select the Prompt to settle credit card transactions upon last exit checkbox.
Select both checkboxes, if needed.
If you select the Prompt to settle credit card transactions upon last exit checkbox, the last user to exit the software is prompted to settle all credit card transactions prior to shutting down. All other users must be logged out in order for this to occur.
You should settle credit card transactions on the same day they occur. If they are held for more than 24 hours, an additional charge is assessed.
To set up security for credit card processing:
Select Utilities > Security. The Set Security Level Permissions window is displayed.
Select the appropriate Level for each user in the following fields:
Credit Card Processing - Setup
Credit Card Processing - Authorization
Credit Card Processing - Settlements
Click Ok.
Selected users now have access to the credit card configuration features you selected.
Employees do not have access to a patient’s credit card number after a transaction is processed and authorized.
