Configuring the SUS

The Software Update Service (SUS) enables you to receive notifications when an update is available.

Tip: Have your account ID/Customer ID number handy, as you will be asked for this information during the configuration process. If you don't know your account ID/CustomerID number, before you start the configuration process, launch SoftDent (on another machine, if necessary). From the Help menu, click About SoftDent. Click Show License Details. Locate the CustomerID number.

To configure the SUS:

  1. Do one of the following:

  2. Select Start > All Programs > Carestream > Software Update Service > Configure Software Update Service.

  3. Right-click the triangle logo and select Configure Update Service.

  4. After installing the latest version of SoftDent, double-click the SoftDent icon on your desktop. (Note: If you have already set up the update service, the SoftDent Login window is displayed.)

The Software Update Service — Start Using the Software Update Service (SUS) window is displayed.

  1. If you have a Carestream single-sign-on (SSO) account, type your email address and password for your single-sign-on account, and click OK. The Software Update Service — Account Details Accepted window is displayed.

Tip:  Not sure if you have a single-sign-on account?

— You might have created an SSO account for the Customer Portal.

— A Carestream Dental Institute representative might have created an SSO account for you, in which case you would use your email address and the password mwonline or carestream (unless you changed your password).

— Your email address is always the login for your SSO account.

  1. Click OK.
