SoftDent, version 18.0, includes enhancements in the following areas:
ePayments Secure gives your practice and patients additional credit card payment security.
Advantages of ePayments Secure include:
No credit card numbers stored on your local computers
Automatic settlement (no more manual settlement)
New credit card chip reader/swiper/NFC machine
Same workflow as existing ePayments
You must purchase a new credit card chip reader/swiper/NFC device in order to use ePayments Secure. Contact your Carestream Dental representative for more details.
New ePayments customers must use ePayments Secure. Existing ePayments users can continue to use version 1 and do not need to upgrade.

A "Workflows and Roles" section has been added to the online help. This section shows the general workflow within SoftDent for each role (for example, Front Desk Administrator, Dental Hygienist, and so on) in the practice and lists the tasks those team members perform.

To help you organize and manage your TeamTalk messages, two fields—Name and Date Created—have been added to the TeamTalk -- Notes window (TeamTalk > General TeamTalk Lists). Use the slider to view all of the fields in the window.

You can now print the routing slip from several additional areas in the software.
A Print Routing Slip option has been added to the following areas:
At the bottom of the Options section on the Express Bar in the Daybook window (the option is enabled when you select an appointment)
At the top of the Appointment Card window
On the Appointment Submenu (displayed when you right-click on an appointment in the schedule)

A Reviewed by Dr. checkbox has been added to the Patient Clinical Notes window (Patient Chart > Clinical Notes > View Clinical Notes > Add), which enables the doctor to indicate that he has checked the clinical notes for the patient.
The Work Performed window (Patient Chart > Clinical Notes > Post End of Day Notes) and Patient Clinical Notes List window (Patient List > Clinical Management > View Clinical Notes) now contain a Rev. by Dr. column. A Yes is displayed in this column when the doctor has selected the Reviewed by Dr. option in the Patient Clinical Notes window.

A Modify Reviewed by Dr. Checkbox security permission has been added to the Clinical Security Settings list. A user with this permission can check and uncheck the Rev. by Dr. checkbox on the Patient Clinical Notes window.
A Rev. by Dr -- Checked or Rev. by Dr -- Unchecked entry is made in the Transaction Audit Trail report each time the checkbox is selected or deselected.

The Place of Service drop-down list is located in the following windows: Transactions window (Patient or Account list > Transactions > Double-click a transaction), ADA/Transaction Codes List window (List > ADA Codes > Double-click a code), and the Claim window (List > Claim > Double-click a claim).
The viewable area of the Insurance Payments window has been increased to enable you to view more line items at one time.
