Creating a System Profile

System profiles can be used in two ways:

To set up a system profile:

  1. Select View > List Preferences. The SoftDent List Preferences window is displayed.

  2. In the View Profile for: section, click the drop-down arrow and select System from the list. The Apply to all Users option is displayed.

  3. Select an option:

A message is displayed, stating that the settings will override any user-defined profiles and asking if you want to continue. Click Yes.

  5. To set up a system profile as a default and still allow employees to create individual profiles:To set up a system profile as a default and still allow employees to create individual profiles:Do not select the Apply to all Users option.

  1. In the Highlighting Method section, select an option to specify whether the selected entry in the list is highlighted by a colored solid bar or colored outline.

  1. In the Highlight/Border Color section, select the color to use for the solid bar or outline selected in the Highlighting Method section.

  1. In the Right Click Options section, select an option:

  2. Display dialog in view mode:Display dialog in view mode:When you right-click on an item in any list, the corresponding window opens in VIEW mode.

  3. Display Options menu:Display Options menu:When you right-click on an item in any list, the corresponding Options menu is displayed. This is the same menu that is displayed if you press O while the list is open.

  1. In the Grid Line Options section, select whether you want to always display grid lines, never use grid lines, or use vertical lines only.

  2. Click OK. A window is displayed, asking if the current profile should be saved.

  3. Click Yes.

To turn off the system profile override and enable employees to create individual profiles:

  1. Select View > List Preferences. The SoftDent List Preferences window is displayed.

  2. Deselect the Apply to all Users option. A message is displayed, stating that users will be allowed to customize their own settings and asking if you want to continue.

  3. Click Yes.

  4. Click OK.
