Running the Rebuild/Reindex Utility

When a data file or its index is damaged or out of order, run this utility to check the integrity of the file and to rebuild the associated index files.

• Do not run this utility unless you are instructed to by a technical support representative.

To rebuild or reindex files:

1. Instruct all users to exit the software.

2. Select Start > All Programs > SoftDent Software > SoftDent Utilities. The SoftDent Login window is displayed.

3. Type your user name and password and click OK. The SoftDent Utilities window is displayed.

4. Select File > Rebuild/Reindex or select Rebuild/Reindex. The Select Files to Rebuild/Reindex window is displayed.

5. Select an option:

6. To rebuild or reindex a specific file:Select it from the list.

7. To rebuild or reindex all files:Click Select All.

6. Click OK. A message asks you to rebuild or reindex the files.

7. Click Yes. A message is displayed when the process is complete.

8. Click OK.

9. Click Close.

10. When the technical support representative tells you to, restart the software.
