Posting Prepayments

Post prepayments when patients or insurance companies send payments for procedures not yet performed.

Example:Example:John Doe agrees to a treatment plan totaling $500 and wants to pay for the procedures before scheduling an appointment. Post a $500 prepayment to his account. Each time a procedure is posted, the balance is decreased and the collections increased.

To post a prepayment to an account or patient record:

  1. Do one of the following:

  2. In the Account window:In the Account window:Select Payments.

  3. In the Patient window:In the Patient window:Select Transactions. The patient Transactions window is displayed. Select Payments.

The Payments window is displayed.

  1. Select Pre-Pay/Adjust in the Select Operation section of the window. The Payments - PrePayment or Adjustment window is displayed.

  2. Select the payment code from the Code drop-down list.

  3. Type the payment amount in the Amount column.

  4. To add a note to a transaction, select the Notes column, and type the information.

  5. Click Post. Code 98 is posted to the patient receiving the debit and code 96 to the patient receiving the credit.

  6. Click Close.
