Performing Soft Tissue Exams

When the soft tissue exam is selected, you can chart oral hygiene, gingival bleeding, and the condition of all soft tissues.

To perform a soft tissue exam:

  1. On the Exams tab in the Charting for window, click Soft Tissue Exam on the Patient Exams toolbar. If no soft tissue exam exists for the patient, skip to step 3.

  2. Select an option:

  4. To edit the existing exam:To edit the existing exam:Click Edit Exam on the Exam Options toolbar.

  2. To indicate no soft tissue pathology, excellent oral hygiene, no calculus, and no gingival bleeding:To indicate no soft tissue pathology, excellent oral hygiene, no calculus, and no gingival bleeding:Click All OK. The appropriate options are selected.

  3. Select the appropriate checkbox to indicate soft tissue information in the Soft Tissue section.

  4. Select the oral hygiene level in the Oral Hygiene section.

  5. Select the calculus level in the Calculus section.

  6. Select the gingival bleeding amount in the Gingival Bleeding section.

  1. Type any notes in the Comments section.

  2. Click Save Exam.

  3. To display the next exam, click Next Exam.
