Setting Up Lab Case Prompting

Before you can use lab case prompting for procedural codes that do not use this feature by default, you must set up lab case prompting for specific procedure codes.

To set up lab case prompting for a procedural code:

  1. Select an option:

  2. Select List > ADA Codes.

  3. In any window, press Ctrl + C.

  4. Click ADA List Window on the Power Bar. See Using the Power Bar for more information.

The ADA/Transaction Codes List window is displayed.

  1. Double-click the code to prompt a lab case from the list. The ADA/Transaction Codes window is displayed in EDIT mode.

  2. Select an option:

  3. To prompt the user to open a lab case when the code is posted:To prompt the user to open a lab case when the code is posted:Select Open lab case from the Lab Prep Code drop-down list. When the code is posted, a message that asks you whether to open a lab case for the posted procedure is displayed.

    If you click Yes, a message asks you to create a reminder memo for the day the lab case is expected to be returned to the office.

    If you click Yes, the reminder is automatically displayed in the Today’s Memos window on the date the lab case is expected to be returned to your office. This information also is displayed in the Memo window.

  4. To prompt the user to close a lab case when the code is posted:To prompt the user to close a lab case when the code is posted:Select Close lab case from the Lab Prep Code drop-down list. When the code is posted, the Enter Lab Fee and Invoice # window is displayed. Type the information in the appropriate fields.

Example:Example:Code 2750 (Crown) usually requires a lab case. In the ADA/Transaction Codes window for code 2750, select Open lab case from the Lab Prep Code drop-down list. Whenever code 2750 is posted, you are prompted to open a lab case for the patient.

  1. Click OK.

  2. Click Close twice.
