Running the Archive and Delete Utility

Run this utility to transfer compressed history transactions to an archive file and clear the compressed transactions from the main database. Running the utility frees hard disk space. To view archived transactions, use the audit trail utilities on the System menu or run the Print Archived Transaction History utility.

• Save a complete backup in addition to your regular backup before running this utility.

To run this utility:

1. Instruct all users to exit the software.

2. Select Start > All Programs > SoftDent Software > SoftDent Utilities. The SoftDent Login window is displayed.

3. Type your user name and password and click OK. The SoftDent Utilities window is displayed.

4. Select Maintenance > Transaction Hist Maintenance > Archive & Delete.

5. Enter the drive and directory in which you want to store the TRANS.HST file.

6. Click Apply.
