Exercise 1:  Add pre-existing conditions to the Dental chart.

To add pre-existing conditions:

  1. On the Patient tab, select Clinical > Dental Chart.

  2. Under Mode, make sure Current is selected.

  3. Click the tooth number.

  4. Select existing conditions/diseases for an entire tooth.

  5. Click the tooth and select a surface or root.

  6. Select existing conditions/diseases.

Exercise 2:  Create a patient treatment plan in the Dental chart.

To create a treatment plan:

  1. On the Patient tab, select Clinical > Dental Chart.

  2. Change the Mode field from Current to Plan. By default, the Unmanaged Procedures list is displayed and serves as a default plan for any unplanned procedures.

  3. Click New Plan.       

  4. Assign the New Treatment Plan a unique name and click OK.

  5. Begin charting by selecting Tooth, Surface, or Region.

  6. Select the type of procedure and the procedure code from the list.

  7. To add additional procedures, click Add Code in the Tools section. The New Treatment Plan is saved automatically.

Exercise 3:  Chart a Perio exam.

To chart a Perio exam:

  1. On the Patient tab, select Clinical > Perio Chart.

  2. Click Record New Exam. The blue highlighted tooth number is based on your Perio exam settings.

  3. Mark the pocket depth, furcation, and bleeding.

  4. Click Save Exam.

Exercise 4:  Add a clinical note from the Dental chart.

To add a clinical note:

  1. On the Patient tab, select Clinical > Dental Chart.

  2. Under Actions, in the Clinical Notes section, click Insert Note.

  3. Start typing to enter a free-form clinical note or select from a template and click Insert note.

  4. You can click View Charting History to access existing notes for the tooth or region.
