Charting the Patient > Using the Charting Buttons
You can access the 9000 3D system from within the PracticeWorks charting module, giving you the ability to capture 3D volumes.
The 3D Imaging button is located directly above the thumbnail viewer on the Hard tissue, Soft tissue, Attached img, and Capture tabs. The button is displayed when you have the dental imaging software installed and 3D imaging enabled. Select this button to launch the imaging software in 3D acquisition mode.
The thumbnail viewer displays a 3D placeholder for 3D volumes instead of a smaller version of an image, as with other image types. You can select an image placeholder in the thumbnail viewer, right click, and select Open to launch the volume in the imaging software.
Placeholder images are also displayed in the charting module’s Layout tab and in the Patient Images window.
The Progress Notes tab displays entries for 3D image volumes with the description: Dental Image (Extraoral 3D Image).
Select the entry to display the placeholder image and enable the View/Edit button. Use this button to launch the 3D image volume in the imaging software.
The right-click menu for 3D image placeholders does not offer the options to preview, annotate, convert, or send the image via e-mail, as with the other types of images.
