To retrieve information from a QuickBooks Pro software file:
From your Windows Start menu, select and run QuickBooks Pro.
From the File menu, select Timer > Export Lists for Timer. The system opens the QuickBooks Pro folder and prompts you to select a file.
Type TEMP.IIF in the File name field, and click Save. A message states that the export was successful. Click OK.
From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > Accessories, and select Notepad or WordPad.
From the File menu, select Open. Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\ and select the file: TEMP.IIF.
Click Open. A document file opens.
Locate the heading: COMPANYNAME. Look below it to find the company name. Write this down exactly as it appears in the file.
Locate the heading: COMPANYCREATETIME. Slightly offset below it, find the nine- or ten-digit number. Write this down.
From the File menu, select Exit to close the file.
