Charting the Patient > Using the Soft Tissue Tab
While the Hard Tissue tab labels teeth as numbers 1 through 32, the Soft Tissue tab labels them as follows:
1-16 Buccal
16-1 Lingual
32-17 Buccal
17-32 Lingual
You cannot select a tooth or teeth the way that you can on the Hard Tissue tab, but when you click on a tooth, the selection box stays with the tooth you are charting.
If you use the arrow keys on the keyboard, the movement on the chart follows the progression outlined above, if the chart is the active area of the tab. Notice that the Othr pointer normally follows the Pckt pointer, and that the highlighted number on the measurement area moves with the pointers.
As you make an entry at each site, the pointers and data location move automatically to the next site, so unless you find you have made a mistake or have some other reason to move to another site, you do not need to use the arrow keys. The <<Prev or Next>> buttons move you from tooth to tooth, instead of site to site. If you need to move, use the right and left arrow keys to move from site to site.
