The OrthoTrac patient flow module is an electronic patient monitoring system that enables you to keep track of the patients in your office. This additional module lets you see, at a glance, who is in the lobby area, who is in the operatory, and who has already checked out. The software keeps track of a patient’s total visit time, and you can create reports detailing how long patients spend in a particular area of the office, helping you to improve the efficiency of your practice.
Only one instance of the Patient Flow window can be open on each workstation.
A typical patient flow setup includes a computer in the lobby, where patients can check themselves in. Depending on your preference, patients can check in using several methods:
Keyboard — Patients type their name using the keyboard.
Mouse — Patients use a mouse to point and click on letters in their last name, or on their picture.
Touch Screen — Patients touch the letters in their name, or their picture, on the computer screen. Specific hardware requirements must be met in order to use this feature. Click Help on the menu bar and select System Requirements on the Web to view the current system requirements.
Fingerprint Scanner — Patients scan their fingerprint. If the scan is successful, the patient does not need to use any of the check-in displays.
The additional computers running patient flow (front desk, doctor’s office, business office, exam rooms, and so on) can each use a different patient flow display option, depending on the tasks performed at that computer. If you do not want to use a lobby computer for patient check-in, your staff can check in patients using their computers.
