There are several keyboard shortcuts you can use when entering data in OrthoTrac.
Hot Keys (Alt + Underlined
Letter) — On windows with field names or function buttons with underlined
letters, pressing Alt and the underlined letter puts the cursor in
a particular field or opens a particular function window. If multiple
fields share a hot key, press the hot key multiple times. If a field
does not have a hot key, press the hot key of the nearest field and
press Tab to move forward or Shift+Tab to move backwards.
Example: On the Patient Information window, the M in MedAlert
is underlined. Pressing Alt+M takes the cursor to the MedAlert field.
Example: On the Patient Information window, the S on the Salutation
button is underlined. Pressing Alt+S from anywhere on the Patient
Information window opens the Custom Salutations window.
Ctrl O — Opens another patient chart from within a patient chart. Opens another patient financial window from within a patient financial window.
Ctrl S — Saves information on any window.
Drop-down Lists — You can
populate a field with a drop-down list by typing the first letter
of the item you want selected in the list. For example, if you want
to enter Observation in the Status field, tab to the Status field
and press the O key. If you want another item on the list that begins
with O, press the O key again, and the next occurrence is displayed
in the field.
To see a list of available values, press the Alt key and the down arrow
key to open the list.
Spacebar — Press the spacebar to select options in a window.
