Using Auto Payments

Auto payment options include:

• Auto Bank Draft

  An electronic draft from the bank account of the responsible party into the bank account of the practice. This enables direct payment from the patient’s bank to your bank on an agreed-upon date each month without the patient having to write a check.

  You can set up auto bank drafts in two ways:

  • Use the OrthoTrac electronic payment services. See Setting Up the ACH Service for more information.

  • Contact your local bank for the information and forms necessary to initiate automatic bank drafts.

• Credit Card Draft

  An agreement between the office and the patient or responsible party to draft a charge on the credit card of the patient/responsible party each month.

  TIP:You can type a description in the Reference field of the transaction area to indicate the type of credit card used, such as AMEX for American Express. You can also type a letter in the auto payment description, such as X, as a shortcut.

• Post-Dated Cheques

  The office holds post-dated cheques for the length of the contract. Each month a cheque is posted to the patient’s account on an agreed-upon date and deposited in the bank.

  The Post-Dated Cheques option is intended for use in Canadian offices only.

• Your hosted practice must manually export stored credit card account information and delete it from the OrthoTrac database to meet PCI compliance standards. You will need to run the PCI utility that is available in version 15.3.1 of OrthoTrac. See Exporting Stored Credit Card Data for more information.
