Using the Metal Artifact Reduction (MAR)

CS Orthodontic Imaging and CS OMS Imaging, versions 11.9 and higher, include CS MAR, an algorithm that improves image quality by reducing the distortion caused by metal from objects such as prostheses, screws, or dental fillings. You can compare images with and without the MAR filter to increase the accuracy of diagnoses.

Tip:  To conserve hard drive space, use MAR on an as-needed basis. You have seven days to apply the filter on an existing 3D volume.

To apply the MAR filter to regular 3D volumes:

  1. In the Table of Contents pane, right-click the volume and select Launch MAR Reconstruction.

  2. To view the volume, right-click it and select Launch Object.

  3. When the volume is displayed, use the CS MAR button in the Adjustments pane to toggle between the filtered and unfiltered views.

  4. To export a MAR volume, right-click it and select Export.

  5. To delete a MAR volume, right-click it and select Delete Object.
