Selecting a Region

Use the Region Select tool to select part of a painting.

To select a region:

  1. Open a painting and click Region Select. The Selection toolbar is displayed.

  2. Use the toolbar optionstoolbar options to customize the selection properties.

    To delete the selectionTo delete the selection, click Delete Region.

    To invert the selectionTo invert the selection, click Invert. For example, if you selected the patient's mouth, invert the selection to select all image areas except the mouth.

    To select the entire imageTo select the entire image, click Select All.

    To specify magic wand toleranceTo specify magic wand tolerance, use the Tolerance slider. Move the slider to the right to select more pixels; move it to the left to select fewer.

    To copy the selectionTo copy the selection, click Copy Region.

    To paste the selection from the clipboardTo paste the selection from the clipboard, click Paste Region.

To specify the selection type, select one of the following options from the drop-down menu:

  1. If using box or freehand mode, click and drag on the painting to select an area.

If using magic wand mode, click once in an area to select all similar adjacent pixels.
