Managing Objects > Adding Objects > Importing and Exporting Objects
Use the Import STL/PLY function to import STL or PLY files to a visit.
Importing STL or PLY images is not supported in a virtual environment. (This includes Remote Desktop, Hyper-V, Citrix, VMWare, etc.)
To import an STL or PLY file to an existing visit:
Right-click on the visit to which you want to add the STL or PLY files, and select Import STL/PLY. The Import Model window is displayed.
Click the
button next to the Maxilla
field, and select the maxilla STL or PLY file.
Click the
button next to the Mandible
field, and select the mandible STL or PLY file.
Select the clinical indication, if different from the default.
Click the drop-down arrow next to the Manufacturer field to select the manufacturer.
Click the drop-down arrow next to the Object Type field to select an object type.
If the correct object type does not exist, click New Type, and type the name for the object type in the Add New 3D Scanner Type dialog box.
Click Import. The STL or PLY files are added to the visit.
The imported files can be matched with a CBCT 3D volume in CS 3D Imaging for Prosthetic-Driven Implant Planning (PDIP) and then exported for 3rd party surgical guide creation.
